Preparatory research
Understanding the organization
Review information about the company/organization: visit its website to research, study, and master details about its mission, values, organizational culture, activities, clients, competitors, and recent news.
Understanding the role
Analyze the job description to identify the competencies and skills required.
Role-related questions
From the job description, prepare both questions about concepts covered by the role and situational/behavioral questions tied to the required competencies.
Common/general questions
Prepare answers to common questions (self-introduction, strengths, weaknesses, achievements, motivation for the role, etc.).
Questions to ask as a candidate
Prepare thoughtful questions for the recruiter about the organization or the role to demonstrate your interest.
Documents & tools
Print multiple copies of your CV and cover letter.
Gather references if requested.
Prepare a portfolio if needed (e.g., projects or certificates).
Other considerations
Conduct mock interviews with friends, mentors, or via online platforms to build confidence, using the questions prepared in the previous step.
Practice presenting your background in a concise and compelling way.
Choose professional attire appropriate to the organization’s culture. Note: You don’t have to wear a suit and tie unless that is the recommended dress code (particularly in the banking sector).
Identify the interview location in advance and estimate travel time (adding a buffer to anticipate possible traffic) or test your connection if the interview is online.
Plan a backup option in case of unexpected delays.
