“When she heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment (…) and straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague” Mark5:27-29
Beloved,
If you have never suffered a long-time sickness or stayed with someone that has gone through a similar experience, chances are that you will not fully understand what the woman with the issue of blood went through. Having a blood issue for one week is already too serious an issue to handle, let alone going through it for months and for twelve years. This is as serious as moving around with the assurance that any minute could be the ultimate. In that condition, while the present is fountain of pain and restlessness, every next hour looks so remote that it is as if one will not live to see it.
In that storm, except you are very confident in your creator, you will most likely be tempted to test any port, hoping for the best even when evidences seem to predict the worst. You will be ready to let go of anything valuable if that means getting closer to the solution. That is when people sell their cars, their houses and other properties ; that is when they empty their bank account in the desperate search for solution for as Job 2:4 states: “(…) skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life”.
Unfortunately, as if the suffering were not sufficient, that is the season when ill-intentioned people draw nearer, suggesting solutions that they perfectly know will not work, thus draining the remaining scarce resources. And, as the saying goes in my tribe, no sick person will relent until they have tried anything that is presented as likely to bring solutions to their problems.
Figure out what the situation of that lady was then. She has tried anything that was possible and “had suffered many things of many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but grew worse.” She had tried the rest, never knowing that the best was on the way. Sometimes, as long as we still have alternative, our eyes are plagued and cannot see the best. But when we come to the end of ourselves, when all the solutions that seemed to have worked for others prove unproductive for us, situations take us straight to God.
Beloved, you have tried the rest. Please, now try the BEST.
