“Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?” John 1:38
Today, many Christians have turned the house of God as a place of seer, a market place seeking only their selfish interest than the kingdom of God. No wonder the book of Ezekiel says that they worship me but their hearts are far away from me. How can you worship God because you want the things of this world? The Bible says the things of the flesh are flesh and the things of the spirit are spirit. When our main purpose for worshiping God is faulty, then it will be difficult to operate as a child of God. Because anything that you love in this world is what controls you.
When Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus, he climbed the tree and did all he could to see Him. Like Nicodemus, they asked what they must do to enter the Kingdom of God. No wonder many of us are frustrated and distressed. Even though we go to church each day, hear God's word, we are empty carcasses, whose presence is in our problems. That is why the psalmist says Blessed is the man whose stay is in the lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of living water.
It is Jesus who keeps us alive. Jesus who oils our dry bones, gives sinews in them and breathe his breath in our lives. He said, “come to me all ye that are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest”. No man can please God without the Holy Spirit. How can you be staid in God's presence, except by seek him diligently, not haphazardly! David says early in the morning will I seek him. Not for anything, but just to be in his presence.
Only when we seek Him will we be watered and live again. We choose to live when we hearken to his voice. Speak with him and commune with him. We begin to hear him and he will direct our path.
Let God take His place in our hearts, let Him be enthroned and let His ways be our ways. How can we have His ways when we are not seeking or trying to know Him.
Prayer
Lord, take your place and be enthroned in our hearts! Enable us to love you with all our heart and all our might in Jesus’ name
