“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small”. Proverbs 24:10
As true as the members of the same body have their singularities, the body of Christ is rich of its diversity and though we are all Christians, our strength varies greatly and so is how we react before the storms of life. Depending on how Christians react to adverse situations, we can have three types of Christians:
The Christian-Egg: Away from the heat, the content of the egg is liquid, with the white part holding and protecting the yellow one. However, by the time egg comes out of hot water, although its appearance may not present any substantial difference, its content becomes hard. Christian-eggs are the one who are destroyed by the adverse situations they pass through. They move from the kind fellows they were to hard and harsh ones and their fellows can literally find it hard to recognize them.
The Christian-Carrot: By nature, carrot is hard and slightly sweet. Boiled for almost one hour, carrot comes out of hot water softer slightly changes its color. This epitomizes zealous Christians committed to Jesus and inflexible on any aspect of their faith when everything is working well for them but whose commitment falters, softens and is weakened, after they have gone through tempests of life. Unlike Christians-eggs, Christians-carrots have not been fully destroyed. However, they need other stronger Christians’ help to quickly come afloat, for only iron sharpens iron.
As shown above, eggs and carrots came out of the heat test transformed, transfigured and, to different extents, weakened; they underwent the diktat of hot water which literally massacred them.
The Christian-Coffee: When poured in hot water, coffee imposes its color to the water, takes control of it and, without concession, dictates its law to it. It subdues hot water, not just by changing its color but also by imparting its taste to it. Christians-coffee are them that, by their faith, make adverse situations of life bow to their faith. They keep anything that has been missioned to scare, shake and/or destroy them under their control and use storms of life as platforms to be propelled to the next level on the path of their destiny.
The strength of a boxer is measured by the opponent (s)he faces just like a soldier’s strength is measured by the kind of opponent (s)he brings down. What type of Christian are you? If you are anything different from the Christian-coffee, receive God’s grace to change! Amen! God bless you!
