WHO DO YOU COME TO SEE?

WHO DO YOU COME TO SEE?

“But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.” Matthew 11: 9

This is a verse in which Jesus asked his disciples about John the Baptist and it is true even for today.

The reason why most people go to church is to find answers for their jobs, marriage, children, money, amongst others. The church has become a business place for miracles and not a sanctuary of worship. As a result, even the messages preached have become those suited for the itching ear. No wonder Paul cautioned the church saying “beware of those who will come amongst you and will change the word and the message to get for themselves followers” (Acts 20: 30)

The words preached today are tailored to meet what people want to hear. Therefore, people in need of miracles are always in church to hear. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.” (2 Timothy 4: 3). As a result, we have a lot of Christians that do not know God. The true message of salvation, the principles of our faith, amongst others are left behind.

So today there are a lot of lost sheep whom the lord desires to come to Him. People go out to seek miracles, not God. That is why we see a lot of wickedness in the church. He says “I am the vine, ye are my branches. Any branch that is not fixed in the vine will not bear fruit. And any branch that does not bear fruit he cast out.”

Jesus should be our main aim why we go to church. Remember, Peter sank in the sea when he removed his eyes from Jesus to the miracles of working onto the sea. The children of Israel were bitten of snakes when they lost focus on the brazen serpent to observe their problems. There is no way we can be sober and vigilant if we do not fix our eyes to Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith. The Bible says that we should believe in the Lord Jesus and we shall be saved (Act 16:31). God says come to me and I will come to you. Draw nearer to me and I will draw near to you.

The hope of our glory is Jesus without whom healing is not permanent and miracles are a façade.
