“That I may know Him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his suffering, being made conformable unto his death… I press toward the mark for the prize of God's high calling in Christ Jesus” Philippians 3:10,14.
We live in a world where defining yourself is constant pressure. When describing to someone, it is not just "Do you remember Jane". It seems the introduction has to be more than that and can go like this "Jane, the one who did that great job" or "Jane, the one who left without notice." Or a friend can casually say, "Let me be the devil’s advocate in this situation". In that case, it is a figure of speech, but words have a greater meaning.
But we must constantly endeavor to remind ourselves who we are. As regularly as possible, child of God, remind yourself and the world who you are.
Say it, think it, write it, print it, memorize it, meditate on it until the Word starts changing you from inside-out. Press in towards that mark of how Jesus calls you.
If you are new to this, this is an easy way to start it- Confess this, “I am not what the world thinks or says I am. I am not what the devil or the kingdom of darkness says I am or imagines or has designed me to be. I am not the picture of what my idolatrous forefathers wished I should be. I am not what the unregenerate mind thinks I should be. I am not what my village's wickedness wants me to be. I am not a picture of what the national economy and institutionalized wickedness have restricted many people to be. I am not what I think I am. I am what the Word of God says I am. I am an express image of Jehovah God on earth. I am a believer of the word of Truth. I am born again. I am heaven-bound. My citizenship is in heaven. I am seated with Christ in the heavenly places, far and above principalities, powers and dominions. I am the fear and the dread of God against the kingdom of darkness. I am a dwelling place of the Holy Spirit of God.
Prayer:
Lord, I ask that all these confessions I have made be operational and be as covering as a defense over me, in my spirit, soul and body. Thank you, Lord, for the truth and promises in your Word in Jesus’ name. Amen.
