Daniel DOSSOU

“'Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’ ”' Matthew 2:1-2,4-6 NKJV
It is surprising that the wise men from the East, a region known in ancient times for astrology, an occult science proscribed by God in the Bible (Deuteronomy 4:19; Isaiah 47:13; 2 Kings 17:16–18), accurately discerned that Jesus, the God-King, had indeed been born. They also correctly tracked his location using the knowledge available to them. Conversely, the chief priests and scribes of Israel, God's chosen people, were familiar with the prophecies announcing the coming of the Messiah and his birthplace. Yet, they were unaware that both events had been fulfilled. They had the light of the text, yet their minds were blind to its realization. The truth was in their heads and mouths, but not in their spirits and hearts.
It is a pity when pagans become the ones to point out to us things God is doing, when we should have been the ones with that discernment. This is reminiscent of Jesus telling his contradictors that if his disciples remained silent instead of worshipping him, "the stones will cry out" (Luke 19:40). When we fail to advise those around us properly about God's current words and revelations, God may find others to do so, and these could be nonbelievers. This does not mean they are saved, however. It simply means that, for lack of availability among his own children, God has decided to use other vessels. What a shame!
Let us repent for every situation where we became drowsy in our spiritual discernment, whether because of fatigue, pride, frustration, or any other cause. Let us ask God to revive our spiritual acumen so that we may receive His revelations and effectively be the light of the world.
