“And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “(…) that Your hand would be with me (…),” So God granted him what he requested.” 1 Chronicles 4:10

Beloved,

The hand is a key part of the human body and is useful to do so many things. This is so true that being without a hand or having an inactive one hand is generally considered a great handicap. If a human’s hand can be that useful, imagine how much more useful the hand of the one that created the universe can be in an individual’s life!

From the Bible record, we know that:

- The hand of God has made us all (Isaiah 64:8);

- His hand holds the life of every living thing (Job 12:10) and our time (Ps. 31:15);

- God’s hand covers the lightning (Job 36:32);

- His hand founded the earth, and his right hand spread out the heavens (Isaiah 48:13);

- His hands formed the dry land (Psalms 95:5);

- The strong hand of God has redeemed his people by his great power (Nehemiah 1:10).

When the Almighty wanted to deliver Israel from centuries of slavery in Egypt, He struck the land with some plagues to show Pharaoh His power. In a bid to downplay God’s doing, Pharaoh invited his magicians and requested them to reproduce the plagues. Not sure how wise that was. All the same, while they were successful for some (water turned to blood and dust becoming frogs), they were unable to replicate the plague of the lice and had to confess in Exodus 8:19 “This is the finger of God”

Beloved, that is how far God’s finger can go in dealing with the enemies of our lives and destinies. God’s finger gave a whole country including its king sleepless nights and nightmarish days. What if He avails His 5 fingers and the palm of His hand! They will shield His children against any weapon wherever it originates from (Isaiah 54:17). When God engraves you on the palms of His hand, you are more than safe and constantly cared for (Isaiah 49:16) and no one can snatch you or anything that is yours from His hand. When we let his hand lead us, not only will His reassuring presence be with us, but He will also guide us.
