“Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for He hath torn, and He will heal us; He hath smitten, and He will bind us up.” Hosea 6:1, KJV
From Genesis to Revelation, God continually calls humanity to return to Him. Like a loving parent longing for a wayward child, He desires intimacy with His people. In Isaiah 44:22, He declares, “Return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.” In Hosea 8:1, He warns, “Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the Lord, because they have transgressed my covenant.”
This covenant is that He would be our God and we His people (Leviticus 26:12). Yet we often fill our lives with distractions. Isaiah 59:10 says, “We grope for the wall like the blind… we stumble at noonday as in the night.”
Through Christ, the veil was torn, giving us access to the Father (Hebrews 10:19–20). Let us approach Him as children to a loving Father, listening to His voice and binding His Word to our hearts (Deuteronomy 11:18).
Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and Isaiah warned of false prophets. Jeremiah 14:14 says, “The prophets prophesy lies in my name… I sent them not.” God grieves that His people perish for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6), not worldly knowledge, but the knowledge of Him.
We live in prophetic times. Daniel 11:32 tells us, “But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”
Isaiah 1:3 says, “The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.” Forsaking the covenant gives sin a foothold in our lives.
Let us return. Ask God to search your heart and restore you (Psalm 139:23–24). Let Him cleanse you, and bind you to Him in an everlasting covenant. Jeremiah 50:5 declares, “They shall ask the way to Zion… and join themselves to the Lord in a covenant that shall not be forgotten.”
The Holy One of Israel—Yahweh—is calling. Read His Word, seek His face, and love Him with all your heart (Deuteronomy 6:5), for He loves you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3).
