In many episodes of the Bible, we saw how some people the Lord wanted to use claimed not to be qualified for the assignment. Moses told God he was a stammer and didn’t feel fit for the mission. Gideon, looking at himself concluded he was not strong and mighty enough to deliver his people. Were they expecting God that knows everything to reply “Oh, I see, you are right, I didn’t factor that reality” and then go on to look for alternatives?" Maybe. Instead, the Lord went ahead building confidence in them to use what they had, however little it might have looked in their own eyes.

The Shunamite woman did not know the little leftover flour and oil would sustain her child and her throughout the period of drought until she started ministering to the Lord’s servant with it. Moses was seeing a mere stick in the rod he was carrying until, under the Almighty’s instruction, it first turned into serpent and later proved an instrument God used to part the red sea and quench his people’s thirst for water. Gideon used his “little might” and delivered his people from the Midianites’ oppression.

The woman by the well is another example of how we should serve God with what we have. For her to have had five husbands, she should have been gifted at least physically. When Jesus convinced her and she rushed into the city asking people to come and see the man that had told her everything she had done, her persuasive tone, her enthusiasm added up to her beauty did draw masses to the Lord.

Beloved, this message is an invitation to you and me to start serving the Lord where we are with what we have. The five loaves of bread and the two fish you have can feed crowds provided you give them to the Lord and start using them. That evangelism you have been postponing, that help to the poor that appears too insignificant to you, that word of counsel that you assume as too ordinary, that oratory gift that is evident to all but which you think is marginal, that ravaging beauty the Lord has given to you, please start serving Him with it and look at the marvelous things the Almighty will perform out of them. DON’T PROCRASTINATE. Start NOW!
