“(…) They fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the Lord his God was with him” 2 Chronicles 15:9

Beloved,

Have you ever wondered why, in a world with so many people suffering and struggling with one issue or another, the call to receive Gospel still does not rally the expected crowd? Have you ever asked yourself why the voices of supposed solution bearers are still echoing with their own expectations rather than moving crowds and making them trace their way to the source of life and peace? However challenging such questions might sound, we cannot overlook them if our desire is to get results in our ambition to achieve the great commission (Matthew 28:19).

Oftentimes, we conclude our diagnosis thinking that the problem is with those we preach the word to as we generally see them as those that have hardened their hearts and made them word-proof. What if we are looking for the issue in the wrong place, in the wrong people? Maybe we should change our approach and look inwardly before stretching our perspectives outside! After all, is that not what we are taught in Mathew 7:3?

Brethren, the truth of the matter is that sometimes the issue is much less with those the Gospel is preached to than with us, the light and solutions bearers. When our life displays and demonstrates the presence of the Lord and the results that naturally go along with it, when we are exempted from the plagues befalling everybody and this is visible to all, when our prayers produce obvious results and people around us can feel and experience it, I bet that people’s attitude to the Gospel and our call to salvation will receive but a very different attention. In our anchor verse of today, we clearly see that King Asa did not have to draw up a communication plan and invest huge energy and money before getting people’s attention. The simple fact that the Lord was with him, and that people could see it, effortlessly attracted to him so many people.

“Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you” Zacharia 8:23

Beloved, may each of us be like that Jew and become magnets that attract crowds to Christ.
