UNDERSTANDING TIMES : PRAYING IN ALIGNMENT WITH GOD’S PURPOSE

"The sons of Issachar had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” – 1 Chronicles 12:32

As believers, it is vital that we discern the times and seasons we are living in—spiritually and prophetically. Scripture is rich with warnings and promises that call us to align our prayers with God’s eternal purpose, not just our immediate needs.

God declared through Ezekiel 12:25, The words I speak will come to pass; they will no longer be delayed. This reminds us that we are living in a time of fulfillment. But have we asked:

1. What time are we in spiritually?

2. Are our prayers aligned with God’s will or driven by comfort and fear?

3. Do we perceive God’s intent in the chaos around us?

Daniel exemplified spiritual awareness. By studying Jeremiah’s prophecy, he discerned that Israel’s exile would last 70 years. He didn’t stop there—he humbled himself and interceded, confessing not only his sins but also those of his people (Daniel 9:2–4).

We are warned in Daniel 7:25 and Revelation 13:7 that a time will come when saints will be tested, even defeated temporarily. But this is not defeat in the eternal sense, it’s a call for spiritual vigilance and understanding. God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8–9).

We must not pray blindly for the world to return to “normal,” but rather ask, “Lord, what are You doing in this hour?” When we set our hearts to understand (Daniel 10:12), God responds. He reveals mysteries to those who seek Him earnestly.

Therefore, brethren, if there is anytime that we should seek after his presence, dwelling in his temple, that time is now
