“But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”” Matthew 19:26

The above verse is probably one of the most popular among Christians. But its segment “with God all things are possible” looks like one of the most misquoted, misrepresented or misunderstood. “With God” implies a partnership, a connection between two parties. So, what Jesus is basically saying through that verse is that possibilities are birthed on the platform of a connection between humanity and divinity. Generally, we tend to exonerate ourselves, leaving the whole responsibility to God.

In 1 King 17:1, Elijah declared this to King Ahab “As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” And that was exactly what happened. How was that made possible? Because a man who understood the mystery of divine connection and invested his time and energy in building his relationship with God ended up earning so much credibility from the throne that his words were backed up from heaven. He became the extension of God’s power and mouth before his fellow. With God, all things are possible.

In Acts 5:15: we read this “so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.” How was that possible? The same Peter who denied Jesus before a servant finally matured to the point that not his hand, not his mouth, but a mere projection of his image on the ground became powerful enough to operate that miracle. Of course, God was in action, but God found a vessel unto honor who availed himself, spent quality time in the closet with the Holy Spirit and, through the mystery of partnership and connectivity with God, was found worthy to carry that dimension of God.

Beloved, God is willing and eager to play his part but there is a part you and I are responsible for and not until we understand it and play it, some of those things that appear impossible now might continue to be impossible. The verse says “with God”, not “by God” not “from God”, not “in God”. For the miraculous fishing to take place, it took the command from Jesus and faith demonstrated by swift obedience from Peter for things to happen. May God help us understand and play our role for our miracle to manifest.
