Your weakness can be an asset to God

Your weakness can be an asset to God

"And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

If we agree with the above verse, it means we agree that God can leverage our weaknesses to demonstrate his glory. Indeed, He did in the past by leveraging David’s weakness as a strength to demonstrate his glory.

The Bible states in 1 Samuel 17:4 that the height of Goliath was six cubits and a span. I am not sure if you and I have ever met someone with such physical structure maybe except in movies. Apart from his physical appearance the description of his shield and armor as detailed in 1 Samuel 17:5-7 will discourage anyone from defying Goliath. The evidence is that whenever the Israelites saw him, they all fled from him.

But one little boy, animated with courage and faith, volunteered to confront Goliath because, while everyone was seeing Goliath’s physical appearance and his protection as a strength, David’s faith in God allowed him to see it as a weakness. Conversely, while Saul saw David’s physical appearance and his lack of war experiences as weaknesses, David saw them as strengths. No wonder when Saul dressed David as a warrior with his tunic and a coat of armor, David took them off and said he was not used to them.

David knew that Goliath was a heavy infantry and overprotected. So, as Goliath was mentally prepared for a close battle, David knew that he had no chance to win in a hand-to-hand battle. Hence, he preferred to leverage his weakness as a strength. He removed anything that could prevent him from being agile because he knew that Goliath's mobility would be extremely reduced by reason of he being too giant and overprotected.

David also remembered that he would fight Goliath the way he fought lions and bears. So, he took his staff, and chose five smooth stones, with his sling (1 Samuel 17:40). Thanks to his weaknesses (neither giant nor physically protected) David was able to run quickly, reached into his bag, took out a stone, slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The too little agile Goliath did not have the chance to avoid the stone and got it straight into his forehead. Thus, David’s weakness became a strength, and Goliath’s strength turned into a weakness.

In the name of Jesus, God will also use your weakness to kill the goliath who is disturbing you.
