Peace of Mind and Heart !

dimanche 1er avril 2018, par Casimir E. CAKPO

“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]... “(Philippians 4 : 6-7)

One of the most mischievous pitfalls of Satan to steal peace and joy from Christians is to sow confusion and worry in their hearts. Moreover, in this game, he knows how to magnify or amplify anything at all (a word heard, a news received, a feeling or a thought) into a mountain that invades the mind of the Christian to the point of making him doubt or forget the goodness and the greatness of his Saviour.

As I was rereading this passage from Philippians 4 : 6, 7 recently, I was struck by something I have never dwelt on enough before - God’s answer to our prayers : His peace. Indeed, Paul exhorts us to stop worrying and go to God with prayers and supplications and then thanksgiving. And he adds : And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will keep your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

God responds to all our requests and supplications with the gift of His peace : "The peace of God shall keep your hearts and your minds." In other words, God’s first response to all prayers and cries of our hearts is His peace !

What good news ! It is possible to live the peace of God at all time and thus live free from all the worries and lies of Satan. No matter what fills your mind or how you feel, if you take the path shown by the apostle, going on your knees, you will rise up filled with his peace. This is what the Apostle Peter recommends to us by writing this : "Unburden yourself of all your worries, for he himself takes care of you.” (1 Peter 5 : 7). In addition to his providence, God gives a preview of peace of mind and heart !

Leave all your troubles at His feet today and let His peace fill your heart.

Good meditation !
