Several years back, a sister prayed when a brother proposed marriage to her. God said he was her match but that for the first ten years of this marriage, she would suffer like no man’s business, but that thereafter, He would prosper her husband.
So, the sister went into the affair. Those ten years truly turned out to be a terrible period. So bad were things that they would put gari in water when the children are crying for food and let the gari swell up in the water to be sufficient for the family. At a point, the sister wanted to give up under pressure from members of her family, and at that time, other men, rich and good looking, began to come to propose to the sister. Then she remembered what the Lord had told her, and this made her to persist. She is now enjoying.
Without a purpose, we really cannot persist. Lack of purpose is an enemy of persistence .
One white man once remarked that a man would work eight hours a day for a pay; a man would work ten hours a day for a good bus, but a man can work twenty-four hours a day for a good course when he knows that a good thing is coming to him from it.
Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was passing, and he knew that the Man had the power to heal him, so he pursued that purpose. I pray that the spirit that gives up will not come upon your life, in the name of Jesus.
A lot of people give up on prayer after some efforts. Such people are only courting trouble because, at that point when they give up, they may be very close to a breakthrough. So, giving up at that point is like taking three steps forward and taking five steps backward.
