A group of six young Nigerian Christian Corpus Fellowship (NCCF) members once found themselves at a remote riverine community where there was no church. They had the burden to establish a place of worship in that community. When they asked the king for land, he told them that the only available place was a forest. The young men requested the forest. The king was shocked.
"Nobody goes there," he warned. "A giant boa constrictor rules that forest. The people worship it. Whenever anyone enters, it appears and greets them in their own language."
Despite the warning, the Christians insisted and were given the land. The six of them entered the forest and began clearing it. Suddenly, a violent wind swept through the trees. Then the giant serpent appeared. It approached the first brother and greeted him in his native language. Fear gripped him. It greeted the second and third brothers the same way, each in their own dialect. Their knees shook. Their courage failed. They were ready to abandon their mission. But the fourth brother stood his ground. As he watched the serpent move toward him, he said, "There is a language this serpent can never understand.” The moment the serpent opened its mouth to greet him, he lifted his hands and began to pray in tongues.
Suddenly, the atmosphere changed. The power of God descended. The mighty serpent began to twist and writhe helplessly. Then the brother declared with authority: "In the name of Jesus, stretch out and die!" Immediately, the serpent collapsed and died. The power that had intimidated a community for years was destroyed in a moment by the power of God.
Beloved, what is standing in the way of your destiny today? What is that giant obstacle that seems impossible to overcome? A delay? A sickness? A bondage? A fear? An opposition that looks stronger than you? Remember this: what is impossible for human strength is never impossible for God.
The God who delivered Israel from Egypt with a mighty hand has not changed. He is not merely the God of history. He is still the God of power, miracles, deliverance, and breakthroughs.
In Judges 6:13, Gideon asked, "Where are all His wonders that our fathers told us about?" To Gideon, God's mighty acts seemed like stories from another generation until God revealed His power personally.
The same God is ready to reveal Himself in your situation today.
What He is looking for are believers who will refuse to surrender to fear, who will stand in faith, confront the enemy, and speak with divine authority.
May every serpent standing against your purpose be destroyed by the power of God. May every barrier before your destiny give way. And may you possess the faith, boldness, and spiritual authority of that fourth brother. In Jesus' name, Amen
